In the year 2000 there came upon me an urgent desire to study the Thessalonians letters as concerns the Pre-Tribulation Rapture Theory, and this investigation opened my eyes to the fact that the apostle Paul was speaking only of ONE EVENT in both missives: the PAROUSIA (the return of the Lord Jesus at the end of the age to set up His kingdom, judge His enemies, and reward the faithful). The Lord Jesus is on his way back to earth, and Paul was describing the episodes surrounding and leading to that occasion, the PAROUSIA.

Read: Ezekiel 38:8-13

Title:  Gathered from many nations

Allow me to attempt to identify the nation that Russia will attack in the last days, as alluded to by the prophet Ezekiel through the information we can glean from these verses: that he was pointing to the U.S.A.

1) A land that has recovered from war (v. 8)  (the civil war,        1861-1865, over 600K soldiers perished)

2) Gathered from many nations (v.8)  (1M immigrants                  enter the U.S. yearly)
3) To the mountains of Israel (v.8)  (When Israel was divided into 2 distinct kingdoms of Judah and Israel, Israel was exiled,  never to return again and was believed to have been dispersed throughout Europe and which formed the core of the immigrant population of the U.S.A.
4) Live in safety (v.8)  (The U.S.A. has the most powerful military on earth)
5) Living without walls (v.11)  (A new development when B.H. Obama opened the southern border with Mexico, allowing the influx of illegal immigrants)

I therefore beg to disagree with those who believe that the U.S.A was never mentioned in Scriptures.  If so small a nation as Ethiopia was given attention in prophetic utterances, it is unthinkable that the most powerful nation in the history of mankind will have no portion in the grand scheme of world history coming to the very end of the age.
